Former English Garden in Gonnesweiler
The English Garden is a landscape garden next to the Chapel of St. Nepomuk in Gonnesweiler, the shape and design of which was developed in England in the 18th century. Within the context of the history of garden design, it was created as a conscious contrast to the previously dominant Baroque garden, which forced nature into geometrically exact forms. The aim of the English Garden was to overcome the mathematical rigour of the precisely laid out beds and pruned hedges and orientate itself in the design of gardens to what nature ideally has to offer.
A short circular route that is also suitable for wheelchair users takes you through the English Garden in Gonnesweiler.
