“Water” plays an important role in the municipality of Nohfelden. Besides the source of the river Nahe in Selbach, the Recreational Centre Bostalsee with the largest leisure lake in the south-west of Germany offers countless opportunities to spend your leisure time in, at and on the water. Many events at the lake and in the community make for good entertainment. The medieval market, taking place at the castle, is famous beyond the border.
For people interested in history and culture, the Art Centre Bosener Mühle (Bosener mill) offers a great number of courses and exhibitions every year. The Museum für Mode und Tracht (for fashion and traditional costume) is the only museum in the Saarland where you can admire the clothing of our ancestors.
At the same time Nohfelden has a variety of things to offer active visitors with their well developed network of cycling and walking paths, for instance the Nahe cycle path. The premium trail “Bärenpfad” and its location at the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig turns Nohfelden into a special region for walking.
The castle turret of the former castle “Veldenz” offers fantastic views of the surroundings. The community offers many jewels that are waiting to be visited, such as the source of the Nahe with its deerpark, the chapels and the observatory, which regularly houses viewings and lectures.
Parts of the municipality belong to the area of Nationalpark Hunsrück-Hochwald.
