This tour is ideal for families with children. With a very slight incline (3%) the tour leads from St. Wendel through Oberthal to Tholey. The completely tarmaced bike path offers fine views of the nature reserve region Saar-Hunsrück. Not only the children will find the little stone animals and figures along the way fun. In Tholey, you can visit the excavation site Wareswald and cycle on to the early-Gothic abbey church. The way back on the old railway track is not difficult. In St. Wendel the multitude of street cafés invite you to stay a while. The Basilica, with the bones of St. Wendelin, is a well-known symbol of the whole region. It is possible to leave the car at the starting point of the tour in St. Wendel (behind the station) or in Tholey at Wareswald or it is just as easy to travel to St. Wendel by bus or train.

Along the route, several options are sign-posted to other cycle routes, so you can create further attractive round trips.

In Oberthal you can follow the Saar-Nahe-Höhen bike path in a southerly direction to Rheinstraße and the Saar-Oster-Höhen bike path up to Habenichts. There it goes to

Oberlinxweiler and returns to St. Wendel.

From Oberthal but you can also follow Saar-Nahe-Höhen bike path from the church towards the Bostalsee and using the Saarland cycle path through Oberkirchen and back to St. Wendel on the Saar-Oster-Höhen cycle path.
